Hunger Free Coordinator

Position open for 2018-2019 year of service.

This Americorps*VISTA position is hosted collaboratively by Thurston County Food Bank and The Evergreen State College.

The VISTA member will significantly impact poverty and food security on campus and in our community. The member will support the Campus Food Systems and Human Service Working groups as advisory structures to involve stakeholders from the Thurston County Food Bank (TCFB) and other organizations addressing hunger. The member will support TCFB planning and assessment for their nutrition, school gardens, and satellite food bank programs. A goal will be to propose structures for student involvement off campus in strong community efforts to end hunger, address food access issues, support local food systems, and encourage food producers to donate.


  • Some college
  • At least 18 years of age, U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or person residing legally in Washington State
  • Ability to make a full-year commitment
  • Interest and/or experience in community service and/or community development
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with diverse populations, including multicultural experience and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Proficient on computers, including Google platform, MS Office, and social media
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple work assignments
  • Available to work during regular business hours with some flexibility to attend evening and weekend events
  • Ability to pass criminal background check
