Want to get involved?

In 2012 over 7,200 community members volunteered their time at the Thurston County Food Bank. We very literally could not do the work we do without the assistance of our volunteers. Some of the roles volunteers take on at the Food Bank include:

  • Van drivers pick up food from food drives in the community and make deliveries to schools and community organizations
  • Co-pilots assist our two drivers with their daily routes
  • Satellite baggers put together the prepackaged bags of groceries that go out to our satellite locations each week
  • Front office¬†volunteers check-in clients that come for service
  • Service floor volunteers assist clients as they make their way through our “grocery store”
  • Repackaging volunteers take items purchased in bulk (like flour, suger or oatmeal) and repackage them into family size or individual portions
  • FORKids volunteers pack weekend food bags that are delivered to elementary schools around the county
