Supplemental Visits are Back

We are very happy to announce that Clients can now come weekly for Supplemental Visits in addition to a Full Visit!

This means our community can now come once a week for a Full Visit (regular visit), and a second time weekly for a Supplemental Visit.

The Supplemental Visits contain specific foods that are donated: breads, pastries, and produce. So, if you would like to come and receive an extra portion of these items during the week — this is for YOU!

Currently, Supplemental Visits are offered during distribution hours at the downtown Olympia’s Food Pantry and Lacey’s Food Pantry. We will be adding these visits soon to our Pop-Up Distribution Program as well!

Inclement Weather

Just a friendly reminder – as we are looking down the barrel of an oncoming snow storm – please be safe.

The safety of our clients, volunteers and staff is our #1 concern.
If you find yourself faced with dangerous driving conditions, please stay home until it is safe to drive on the roads.

We will keep Facebook updated as to any delayed distribution times or potential closures.

Home delivery for seniors 60+ AND those with a legal disability

The Thurston County Food Bank offers a limited home delivery program in an effort to protect the most vulnerable within our community from the spread of COVID-19.

We will do our best to deliver food to your home one time a month if:

  • You are over the age of 60, OR
  • You have a legal disability
  • AND you physically live at a Lacey/Olympia/Tumwater address

The delivery counts as a regular full visit to the Food Bank.

Go to the Home Delivery Request Form to sign up.

2021 Visit Structure update

I’m certain we speak for everybody when we heave a giant sigh as we change the calendars to 2021! In the New Year, we are updating Thurston County Food Bank’s visit structure.

As you may be aware, when COVID first struck, we changed not only our distribution model, but visit structure. We changed the visits from set counts and defined visits – to “unlimited” visits in the pre-bagged/boxed model. This was done in response to COVID – and all that the pandemic brought.

Beginning January 4, 2021, the visit structure will change to a maximum visit of
1 VISIT PER WEEK – PER HOUSEHOLD.

We will continue to operate distributing pre-bagged/boxed foods using our drive-up distribution models(as well as walk-up at our Client Service Center for those without vehicles, on foot or taking busses). It should be also noted, Thurston County Food Bank continues to need volunteers at all locations as we enter 2021. Through everything our Community has been through this past year, we are grateful for the phenomenal people we have around us – supporting each other through these difficult times.

Holiday Closures

It has been a whirlwind of a year!

The staff at the Thurston County Food Bank would like to wish you all a peaceful, health-filled and restorative Holiday!

Thank you for ALL the support we have received – donations, volunteers, and encouraging words — they have kept us strong and going.

Friendly Reminder: we will be closed for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

CLOSED:
December 24 & 25 (Thursday & Friday)
December 31 & January 1 (Thursday & Friday)

We are excited to turn the calendars and start a clean, brand-spankin’ new year with you all by our sides!

Thanksgiving Closures

Thurston County Food Bank will be closed Thursday and Friday (11/26, 11/27) this week to reflect and rest.

This has been quite a year!

And, through it all, we have so much to be thankful for. To begin with, through all the trials of 2020, we have witnessed firsthand the generosity and kindness of our community coming together to support and care for one another.

What an astounding place this is!!

We hope you and your loved ones are able to enjoy the next several days as you reflect on those around you and all the things you are thankful for.

Wishing you and those close a healthy and safe Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Meals

We have so much to be thankful for!
We’ve been receiving many questions regarding Thanksgiving food distribution as well as volunteering.

Here are more details for you:

DISTRIBUTION:

We will be distributing pre-built holiday food boxes and a meat option* — IN ADDITION to our regular distribution of pre-build boxes/bags — on Monday (11/23) and Wednesday (11/25) at our Downtown, Olympia Food Pantry, location (220 Thurston Ave. NE, 98516).

This will be drive-up as well as walk-up distribution.

We will be distributing food from 11am – 3pm (last in line) on those two days from the Downtown location.

We, in partnership with St. Martin’s University, will be distributing the same pre-built boxes/bags and meat options* on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (11/24). |

Distribution will take place in front of the Grand Staircase at St. Martin’s in Lacey (5000 Abbey Way SE, Lacey 98503).

This will be drive-up distribution.

Food will be distributed from 10am – 1pm (last in line) on that Tuesday at St. Martin’s.

* Limit ONE (1) Holiday Box and Turkey (or Chicken) per Household (depending on size) while supplies last

VOLUNTEERING:

In light of COVID, we will not be hosting the giant community Box-Build – we have historically enjoyed the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
We have limited spaces for small groups to help as distribution volunteers the week of Thanksgiving. There are also limited opportunities at our warehouse for individuals and groups to help.
