SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for the coordination of the Thurston County Food Bank’s Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).  Primary responsibilities include:  monitoring contract compliance for tracking inventory control, coordinating of federal food deliveries, monthly reporting, and contract management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the contracts manager with monitoring contract compliance with the federal TEFAP program.
  • Solicit reports from subcontractors, and prepare reports as required for contract compliance.
  • In coordination with the supervisor, build orders based on allotments.
  • Identify and implement product rotation procedures with a focus on Federal foods.
  • Monitor compliance for the Food Bank and subcontractors with Federal and State contracts related to food programs.
  • Coordinate outgoing deliveries and incoming shipments with the supervisor to make full use of available resources, and meet specific equipment needs.
  • Train and orient project staff and volunteers on Federal, State, and local program standards, job requirements, philosophy and mission of the program, and coordination with other available community resources.
  • Serve as an active Food Bank staff member, including participation in meetings, training, fundraising efforts, and other planned activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year of experience with contract management
  • Warehouse experience, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
  • Computer literacy including the use of word processing software.
  • Washington State Driver’s License and reliable transportation to be used on the job.
  • Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
  • Possess or obtain a First Aid card in one of the following programs:  American Red Cross, Labor & Industries, or another County-approved program.

Salary & Benefits: $23.78 – $25.24/hour starting wage (d.o.e.), $23.78 – $28.97 full salary range (svc yr based), 40 hours/week. SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:

This temporary position will be hired from April through June.

This placement will support our work to eliminate hunger in our local community in an atmosphere of neighbor helping neighbor. Our organization provides food programs and services to more than 71,000 residents of Thurston County. This position focuses on procuring food, repackaging and processing orders, and supporting all aspects of receiving and delivering food to those we collaborate with. Our partners include organizations, nonprofits, and groups that focus on food security for families, children, seniors, and individuals who are housed and unhoused. Forty-nine percent of those we serve are children under the age of 18. This Position will provide support to all aspects of our operations. They are supported by staff and volunteers with opportunities to learn about food insecurity in Thurston County and how our collective community efforts work to reduce barriers to accessing food for marginalized, underserved, and underrepresented members of our community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Assist with Client Services intake

•Receive, inspect and process shipments/orders including Federal foods, regionally and locally sourced donations

•Maintain receiving area and other work areas to acceptable operating standards

•Sort, pack, restock and distribute food to clients

•Work in cooperation with Food Bank staff and volunteers in groups and independently

Kiwanis Garden Program Asst (3)

POSITION:               Kiwanis Garden – Procurement Program Assistant   

SUPERVISOR:           WDC Operations Manager

SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will work closely with and support all aspects of the Kiwanis garden under the Procurement Program at our Warehouse.  This staff member will play a key role in supporting staff and volunteers in hunger relief by increasing food access, quality and quantity.

Under supervision, and appropriate training they will see produce from soil to food bank delivery.

Orientation, training, and a tour of all Thurston County Food Bank buildings and gardens to support understanding of our organization’s programs, culture, values, and ethics.

Site-specific training at buildings & gardens to understand all aspects of procurement processes including equipment training, safety protocols, communication, and understanding of roles of staff.

April through June @ 32 hours/wk

July through September @ 20 hours/wk

August through October @ 20 hours/wk

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist farm program lead with farm plan, equipment maintenance, propagation, soil prep, field seeding, planting, harvesting, cover cropping, field maintenance, produce delivery, and data entry.
  • Assist with managing farm volunteers.
  • Deliver produce to Food Bank buildings.

  • Use of equipment such as pallet jacks and fork lift, walkie stacker and cardboard baler (at CSC)
  • Experience with loading dock procedures including use of a lift gate (WDC only)
  • Maintain receiving area and other work areas to acceptable operating standards
  • Assist clients in accessing available programs and resources.
  • Sort, pack, restock and distribute food to clients
  • Work in cooperation with Food Bank staff and volunteers in groups and independently
  • Possible off-site work supporting deliveries, pickups, distribution of food
  • Provide back up for other program staff as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to work with individuals of varying socio-economical, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Computer literacy including use of word processing, database, and spreadsheet.
  • Able bodied enough to lift 50-pound boxes.
  • Valid WA State driver’s license
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificates or be willing to obtain
  • Must have or obtain a valid Washington State Food Workers Card.

SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for the management of the Thurston County Food Bank’s For Kids and Summer Lunch programs. Primary responsibilities include:  monitoring the programs for contract compliance, inventory management, scheduling, and logistics for the programs’ evening and weekend volunteer opportunities, compiling demographic and other information as needed for reporting, planning, and funding sources as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordination of the Food Bank’s weekend meal bag program.  This includes inventory oversite, quality control, and building and distribution of orders to local schools and community partners.
  • Monitor Summer Lunch meal sites supported or operated by the Food Bank to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local program standards. Ensure compliance with School District Practices and Health Department requirements.
  • Coordinating the inventory, scheduling, and delivery of the Food Bank children’s holiday events.
  • Coordinate evening and weekend program-specific volunteer opportunities.
  • Train and orient project staff and volunteers on Federal, State, and local program standards, job requirements, philosophy, and mission of the program, and in coordination with other available community resources.
  • Recruit, train, and develop ongoing relationships with schools and other organizations.
  • Prepare reports as required by the supervisor and contracting agencies.
  • Coordinate with other agencies to expand access to programs.
  • Serve as an active Food Bank staff member, including participation in meetings, training, fundraising efforts, and other planned activities.
