The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)
This federal food program provides shelf-stable and perishable foods on a first-come first-served basis to those who self-declare that they meet income guidelines. As a lead agency for this program, Thurston County Food Bank distributes TEFAP to food pantries and meal programs in Thurston, Mason, Lewis and Kitsap Counties. Click for a list of TEFAP distribution locations.
TEFAP foods are available at our Food Bank pantries, satellites, and mobile distribution sites, with the service level based on household size. Although the variety and quantity is limited, it is offered in addition to our basic food bag. We often create a meal kit with TEFAP items, complete with a delicious recipe — the “Overnight Oats” recipe was shared by our Nutrition Program team.
Note: Language options for the income guidelines. For TEFAP: choose TEFAP, scroll down to TEFAP Participant Forms and Publications, and find pub AGR-445.
Commodities Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
This case-managed federal food program serves seniors age 60 or older who meet income eligibility requirements which are verified annually. These commodities are offered once a month in addition to our other food services and the amount of food is consistent from month to month.
Thurston County Food Bank manages the program for Thurston, Lewis and Mason Counties. Our client services team can help you determine if you are eligible for CSFP and will assist with filling out the application. Pickup location options, as well as limited home delivery, will be discussed at time of application. Please contact BereniceHP@tcfb.org for more information.
